Reflection 1

Reflection 1

At first i was very hoppy to talk about our culture. First when i arrived in heritage village i talk about our grand father where they live, and they live in camp because they cant build house and they will go to looking about water. Then i talk about the camel and it's very important animal because they used it for travel from place to other place, drink his milk, skinning him for cloths and kill him if they don't have water because the camel can save the water for long time we do interview with visitors and they tell as about what they know about our culture and they tell as about some thing famous about  him country.

I think the film is very important because it show the traditional and the culture of the UAE.

Culture and Personality in Anthropology

Read the section about Culture and Personality in Anthropology. Answer these questions about that section:-

1.       Define “Anthropology” in your own words : It is the study of a human characteristics, personalities and development in a society

2.       What do you understand by “socialization of children” Give an example:  whats your culture tells you how you raise your children

3.       Read this sentence again and give examples of childrearing in different societies and cultures: “socialization creates personality patterns. It helps shape people’s emotions, thoughts, behaviors, cultural values and norms to fit into and function as productive members in the surrounding human society. The study of culture and personality demonstrates that different socialization practices such as childrearing in different societies (cultures) result in different personality types.”

· The set of skills or behaviors that a child gains from parents in different societies and cultures
· Benefits of the earned skills from parents will help children to make their own path in society.
· The parents ability to provide shelter, food, comfort and other basic support is varied between societies
· Introducing children to their culture and traditions to make considerable adaptations

4.       Read this sentence again and say to what extent you agree: “all humans are the same when born, but childrearing in different societies causes deviations in behavior and personalities from each other.”
To a certain extent I agree with the above sentence. In most societies, the family is taking full responsibility for raising children. However, there is a great variation in which a child is raised from a family to another, depending on the mentality and behavior of the parents, including their own personality, the experiences they had as children, and the conditions under which they are living. Moreover, other members of the society can also affect the raising of children. For example, in a specific culture, there is a great freedom in terms of the social and traditional behavior, but in another different community, these differences between cultural values and beliefs can affect a child personality in a negative way

5.       Reflect on the reading above. Can you see a link between your culture and your personality? Think about that in relation to your own culture first, and then think about personality and culture in a different society. Reflect. Give examples.
Yes. Every culture defines how an individual behaves as it provides many values and principles that people learn and earn with time.
I believe that I am personally very much influenced by my culture since it is the second thing I was raised on after religion. This also depends on the culture of my parents since they raised me up, and as known here in the UAE, the Emirati culture is carried through generations because of its strength that people to hold on to till our present day.

In my opinion, this applies to other cultures and societies also depending on how parents raise their children based on their cultural beliefs and principles. It is nice to think that societies are still living their cultures but with the diversity and mixture of cultures together nowadays, new cultures are being born.
